A strut connection incorporates a hollow structural section strut tied into a concrete assembly with welded steel plates. A 7/8 inch by 6 inch by 1 foot zero inch knife plate connects the structural members using two 3/4 inch diameter erection bolts and a 1/2 inch centerline gusset plate. Multiple steel plates, including a 3/8 inch by 10 inch by 1 foot 4 inch plate with three number seven by 5 foot zero inch long bent reinforcing bars and a 3/4 inch by t by 2 foot zero inch plate with eight number five by 5 foot zero inch long bars at 4 inch gauge, anchor the assembly. Low-hydrogen welding with typical quarter-inch fillet welds secures the steel components. Welded wire fabric sized 4x4-W2.1xW2.1 with epoxy grout is detailed after welding at the slab interface.
