Lateral stability is provided by angle braces connected between wide flange steel beams supporting a concrete slab over a metal deck. The bracing consists of single or double angles sized per plan at beam quarter points, spaced at a maximum of ten feet on center. Double angles are required when beam spacing exceeds ten feet on center and are tied together with stitch plates at four-foot intervals using three-quarter-inch diameter ASTM A307 bolts. Each end of the brace connects to gusset plates welded to the underside of the beam flanges with quarter-inch fillet welds and secured using three-quarter-inch diameter ASTM A307 bolts.
