A W8 steel column base connection incorporates a gusset plate and a one-and-a-half-inch thick base plate. The assembly is anchored using eight one-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 55 weldable anchor bolts equipped with one-inch by four-inch square plate washers and one-and-seven-eighths-inch diameter holes. One-and-a-half-inch diameter grout holes are provided in the base plate. Complete joint penetration welds connect the components according to designated requirements. Notes specify protected zone restrictions for the buckling-restrained brace and direct orientation coordination with sheet S3.1.
