A half-inch by four-and-a-half-inch bent steel plate ballast retainer is anchored to a four-inch precast concrete segment. The retainer is provided in fifteen-foot lengths and is galvanized after fabrication. Three-quarter-inch diameter bolts with five-inch embedment and inserts secure the plate to the precast units at six inches on center.
