A hollow structural section member connects to a concrete panel using a 36 KSI steel plate measuring 1/2 inch by 6-1/8 inches by 4-1/8 inches. The plate is welded with a 1/4 inch partial joint penetration weld and anchored into the concrete panel. A clearance of 2-1/8 inches is maintained between structural elements per plan.
