This structural plan detail shows the transition and splicing of lateral tie plates of varying widths at a column location. A wider lateral tie plate runs continuously through the column area, while smaller lateral tie plates stop where the two different sizes intersect. An oversized tie plate segment is connected with partial joint penetration welds matching the width of the tie splice plate on each side. The lateral tie splice plate size and weld are provided per the structural schedule.
