Steel side plates fastened with timber rivets provide bracing at an existing truss top chord. A three-sixteenths inch plate is provided on each side with four rows of one-quarter by three-and-a-half-inch timber rivets at two inches on center, supplemented by a channel section secured with three-eighths-inch diameter U-bolts. Existing rafters and truss chords are tied together using two-by-eight members at each end and thirty-two inches on center maximum with pre-drilled sixteen-penny nails and toe nails. Additional bracing members and rod plates are integrated as shown per plan.
