This assembly utilizes a slotted top track to accommodate vertical deflection of the primary structure. Cold-formed steel studs are fastened to the slotted track using number 10 sheet metal screws placed in the center of each 1 1/2-inch slot on each flange. Finishes must remain unattached to the slotted track to prevent damage during structural movement. A 1 1/2-inch by 33-mil strap is provided for sheathing attachment, secured to each stud with number 10 sheet metal screws, with a maximum spacing of 12 inches and a 3/4-inch clearance.
