Reinforcing bars extend past the face of support columns or walls with a development length of Ld, extended straight unless standard hooks are necessary. Top and bottom beam reinforcement splice over supports with a lap length of L, maintaining a minimum spacing of 12 inches or 12 times the bar diameter. Spliced bars are wired in contact or spaced a maximum of 1 1/2 inches apart. Column vertical reinforcement details include offsets with a maximum slope of 1 to 6.
