A concrete slab on metal deck bears on a structural steel beam with a two-inch bearing width on each side. A continuous L3x3x3/8 angle is welded to the steel beam web with five-sixteenths fillet welds at twelve-inch intervals. Additional number five reinforcing bars are placed at eighteen inches on center, supplemented by continuous number five bars maintaining one-and-a-half-inch clearance. A closure piece by the deck manufacturer finishes the deck edge.
