A structural steel drag beam connects to an HSS column using a typical one-half-inch Grade 50 knife plate inserted into a slot cut into the HSS column as required. The knife plate is welded to the HSS column with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld on three sides. Steel beams and steel deck are sized per plan. Fastener size and number are determined per detail reference.
