A hollow structural section spreader beam connects to a concrete mat foundation utilizing an embedded one-half by eight-inch by one-foot zero-inch steel plate secured with four one-half-inch diameter by six-inch welded headed studs and two additional number four by forty-eight-inch minimum reinforcing bars. A one-quarter by four by zero-six-inch plate is welded to each side of the beam with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds, fastened using two three-quarter-inch diameter through bolts placed in horizontal short slotted holes. The assembly maintains a one-half-inch maximum gap from the concrete face with a top of slab and top of steel elevation sized per plan.
