A structural steel column is anchored by a two-inch-thick base plate with a yield strength of 50 ksi, secured with ten anchor bolts. Plate washers measuring one-half inch by four inches by four inches are typical at the bolt locations. A minimum three-quarter-inch-thick gusset plate is included where applicable, welded with typical one-quarter-inch fillet welds. The column size is determined per the column schedule and its orientation per the plan.
