A steel beam frames into the top of a column with a column cap plate and 3/8-inch stiffener plates on each side welded with typical 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch welds. A 1/2-inch thick by 12-inch splice plate connects across the beam joint with a total of four 3/4-inch diameter A307 bolts at standard gauge. The plan view shows a 1/2-inch plate measuring 1'-8" by beam depth plus 4 inches with nine 3/4-inch diameter welded stud anchors at 7-inch gauge on each side of the panel joint.
