A structural steel beam-to-column connection supporting a beam sized per plan over a wide-flange or hollow structural section column. A three-quarter-inch thick plate is welded to the top of the column with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds, secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts located for either an HSS or WF column per plan. A beam splice is detailed with three-eighth-inch by ten-inch splice plates on each side centered on the joint, fastened with A325-N high-strength bolts in horizontal short-slotted holes. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are applied near side and far side to complete the connection.
