This structural steel chord splice connection utilizes top and bottom outside flange plates and a vertical web plate bolted to the main shape. The outside flange plates are secured with through-bolts spanning the top and bottom flanges at a typical one and a half inch spacing per note six. A web plate of thickness t1 is bolted to the beam web with multiple bolts and positioned per note three. Outside flange plates of thickness t2 are fastened to both the top and bottom flanges with threaded fasteners and nuts, subject to note three. The assembly aligns along the centerline of the chord.
