A heavy steel column splice features an inside flange plate designated t3 and an outside flange plate designated t2 placed top and bottom. A web plate designated t1 is attached to each side of the column web with bolted connections. The flange plates incorporate bolted assemblies spanning the width with specified edge distances and bolt spacings. Weld symbols and specific notes govern the plate attachments and assembly sequence.
