A heavy column base plate assembly is anchored with twelve 2-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor bolts passing through 3-inch diameter holes in a 3-1/4 inch thick base plate of 50 ksi steel. Twelve 5-inch square 50 ksi plate washers sit beneath the anchor nuts. Gusset plates provided by the supplier are welded to the column and base plate with complete joint penetration welds and double-bevel groove welds. Dimensioning details show bolt spacing at 8 inches and 10 inches, with a total base width spanning 4'-10". Grout holes are provided through the assembly, and dimension A is defined as one-half the column web thickness plus 1/16 inch.
