A structural steel column base plate is detailed in plan view with an eight-bolt anchor configuration. The column flanges are welded to the base plate using a five-eighths fillet weld with a partial-joint-penetration groove weld specified as TF/2 plus one-eighth inch, while the column web connects with a five-eighths fillet weld. Anchor bolts are arranged in a symmetric pattern with four bolts on each side, spaced at nine inches on center with four-inch edge distances along the length and equal spacing across the width per schedule. Two-inch diameter vent and grout holes are provided in the base plate.
