This assembly connects a concrete slab on metal deck to a vertical steel stud wall to accommodate vertical deflection. A Simpson SCB45.5 connector is attached to the steel stud using two screws, with four 0.157-inch diameter powder-actuated fasteners installed into the steel. If powder-actuated fasteners are used, the clip is welded to the steel with a 1/8-inch fillet weld at 1-1/2 inches long, applied to the top and bottom at the heel side. The connector must not be fully seated into the steel at each stud to maintain the intended deflection capacity. The concrete slab thickness and metal deck gauge are sized per structural notes, and the W-beam and steel studs are sized per plan and schedules.
