A steel girder bears on a three-quarter-inch thick column cap plate secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts in two-inch slotted holes perpendicular to the girder. A knife plate connects through an HSS 2x2x1/4 member on each side with a half-inch gap, welded with quarter-inch fillets. The bottom chord of the joist connects to a vertical plate with quarter-inch fillet welds. A joist manufacturer coordinates the bearing seat slope with the roof slope.
