A davit socket pedestal mounts directly to a structural steel beam via a three-eighths-inch fillet weld at the beam flanges. A three-eighths-inch stiffener plate is provided on each side of the beam web, secured with one-quarter-inch fillet welds typically at the stiffener plates. Additional half-inch by four-inch plates are installed on each side and connected with one-quarter-inch fillet welds to the flanges and webs.
