A davit or tieback socket pedestal is welded to a supporting plate or structural steel beam flange at the top of roofing. The pedestal stands one foot eight inches tall above the top of roofing reference line, with the dimension from the beam flange to the top of roofing shown as varying. Three-eighths inch fillet welds tie the pedestal base to the lower flange, detailed with field-weld and typical indicators. The davit or tieback socket itself is designed by others.
