An elevator separator hollow structural section beam frames into a supporting wide-flange beam using a cut-to-fit structural angle connected with three-sixteenth-inch welds. A wide-flange beam splice features a web plate with a thickness equal to the web thickness plus one-quarter inch, set with a one-half-inch gap. Bolt sizes and counts are determined per the non-moment beam connection schedule. Fillet welds are specified at one-quarter inch on three sides unless noted otherwise.
