New cored holes are cut into an existing concrete wall containing existing reinforcing steel. Nondestructive testing is required to locate existing reinforcing bars prior to coring to avoid contact. All cored hole locations must be reviewed and approved by the structural engineer of record prior to coring. Clearance between adjacent holes must be a minimum of three times the larger diameter, with a typical maximum spacing of six inches and a minimum clearance of two inches.
