A steel column connects to a concrete slab on grade through a 3/8-inch by 6-inch by 6-inch base plate welded to the bottom of the column. The assembly sits on a 1-inch non-shrink grout layer placed directly over the concrete. Four 1/2-inch diameter expansion anchor bolts with 3-inch hooks and 5-inch embedment secure the base plate into the concrete slab.
