Typical shear tab connections feature associated stiffener plates and continuity plates welded to beam webs or column flanges. The assembly specifies a three-eighths inch shear tab for sizes up to W30, and a one-half inch shear tab for W33 and larger. Fillet welds and complete joint penetration welds are specified with dimensional limitations of three inches maximum along the beam web. Angular alignment ranges of thirty to fifty degrees, fifty to seventy degrees, and seventy to ninety degrees are detailed for the connected members.
