The stair stringer connects to a vertical structural member with a maximum three-quarter-inch clearance. A pair of L3 1/2x3 1/2x3/8 by five-inch long angles are provided on each side for support. The broken-back miter joint utilizes full complete joint penetration welds typical throughout. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds are applied typically at the connection interfaces.
