A structural steel beam connects to a column web or flange via a connection plate secured with slip-critical bolts spaced at three inches on center. The connection plate fastens to a gusset plate welded with complete joint penetration welds on top and bottom and partial joint penetration welds along three sides. Plates and specific conditions follow standard braced frame details with specified edge distances and minimum clearances.
