Steel beams frame into steel columns using single plates and bent plates for skewed conditions ranging from 0 to over 45 degrees. Stiffener or continuity plates measuring three-eighths of an inch thick are placed at beam-to-column connections. Bent plate thickness matches the single plate, and where clearance is insufficient to install bolts, the bent plate is welded to the beam web on three sides with a quarter-inch fillet weld. Full-height single plates and standard shear tabs facilitate the framing, accompanied by dimensional clearances up to three and a half inches maximum.
