A structural concrete slab construction joint features a formed keyway with a depth equal to one-half of the slab thickness, or alternatively, the entire interface surface is intentionally roughened at the contractor's option. All slab reinforcement extends continuously through the joint. Spacing and dimensional limits include a six-inch minimum edge distance, six-inch key length, and thirty-inch maximum spacing along the joint.
