Metal deck configurations bear on structural steel beams. The upper diagram details a splice joint over a beam, providing a two-inch minimum bearing typical and requiring a two-inch minimum lap for beam flanges less than two inches in width. End and intermediate support welds are specified per the schedule along the beam flange. Longitudinal support welds connect the metal deck profile to the supporting beam flange as indicated in the lower diagram.
