A hollow structural section beam bears on a hollow structural section post, connected by a half-inch thick haunch plate welded beneath the beam. Vertical stiffener plates are welded inside the hollow structural section post beneath the haunch bearing location. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the plates to the structural members as detailed. The top of steel and centerlines of the hollow structural section members are established per plan.
