A three-eighths-inch thick steel cap plate is welded all around with a seal weld to the top of the hollow structural section column. Structural angles measuring four by six by three-eighths inches are welded along three sides and fastened with two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts. A six-inch vertical spacing dimension references the top of the connection assembly.
