An open web steel joist is reinforced with an additional diagonal web member made from a minimum 2-by-2-by-3/16-inch angle. The reinforcement accommodates concentrated loads up to 100 pounds maximum applied at the joist top chord. A minimum 6-inch spacing offset is maintained from existing web members.
