A cold-formed steel stud terminates below a slotted top track sized per plan, maintaining a three-quarter-inch deflection gap to accommodate structural movement. One number-eight self-drilling screw fastens each side at each stud. A maximum distance of four inches is required from the stud to the nearest powder-actuated fastener.
