An angle kicker brace formed from an L3x3x1/4 angle connects to a gusset plate welded to the structural steel beam web and to a supporting angle anchored to an existing concrete slab. The gusset plate measures 3/8 inch by 6 inches by 0 feet 6 inches and is connected with three-quarter-inch diameter slip-critical bolts typical, with a welded connection allowed at the contractor's option. The upper end of the kicker connects to an L4x4x1/4 angle measuring 1 foot 6 inches long, secured to the existing slab with two five-eighth-inch diameter drilled-in expansion anchors at 1 foot 0 inches on center. The lower detail shows the same kicker configuration interfacing with a metal deck slab floor system, utilizing L4x4x1/4 angles spaced at 5 feet 0 inches on center maximum or as shown on plan.
