An HSS beam connects to an HSS post using top and bottom L5x4x3/8 by 1'-4" end angles secured with three 7/8-inch diameter A325 bolts each. Vertical stiffener plates measuring 1/2-inch thick are provided in four typical locations at the connection, welded with typical 1/4-inch fillet welds. The beam web features a 5-inch diameter bolt access hole to facilitate installation. A maximum 1-inch clearance is maintained at the column face, with incoming framing omitted for clarity.
