A steel beam connects to a supporting steel girder via a bolted shear connection and quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides to the girder and beam. A one-quarter-inch by three-inch by three-inch plate is welded to the top and bottom flanges with a similar condition on the opposite side of the steel girder. A column is located below with reference to a typical detail for steel beams framing over top of columns.
