Cored openings in composite steel decks require metal deck reinforcement when maximum diameters are exceeded, and groups of cores spaced below minimum spacing must be treated as a single opening. Deck heights of one and a half inches permit unreinforced core diameters up to three inches with an eighteen inch minimum spacing, while two and three inch deck heights allow up to six inch diameters with a thirty-six inch minimum spacing. Where core spacing is less than the minimum, reinforcement is provided per the designated details or groups of cores are treated as a single opening. Supports for closure plates are welded to the underside of the steel deck.
