This axonometric detail shows typical structural steel beam bearing seats welded to hollow structural section columns. The assembly utilizes an L6x6x3/4 by zero-foot-ten-inch angle with a coped vertical leg welded to the column, supported by a one-half-inch or three-quarter-inch stiffener plate depending on the column size. Fillet welds of varying sizes such as three-sixteenths, one-quarter, and three-eighths inches secure the seat components to the hollow structural section column sized per plan. Two variations are presented, with specific seat configurations designated for hollow structural section columns measuring seven-by-seven inches and smaller, versus eight-by-eight up to twelve-by-twelve inches.
