A deeper structural steel beam connects to a supporting beam with a full-height web plate and a WT shape beneath the flange. The web plate connects to the supported beam web with bolts and a field weld, while the web of the supported beam is slotted at the flange. Complete joint penetration welds secure the connection components, and a WT7x41 provides additional shear transfer at the bottom flange. Bolts, welds, and plate sizes follow the connection schedule for the deeper beam. This specific detail applies only where referenced on structural plans, elevations, or details.
