Two beams per plan align symmetrically across a grid line with a bolted connection per detail 7/S7.1.01 at the web. A one-inch by four-inch by two-foot ten-inch plate connects the top flanges, leaving the area directly over the transverse beam unwelded. A half-inch by eight-inch by two-foot ten-inch plate connects the bottom flanges. Fillet welds of quarter-inch and five-sixteenth-inch sizes secure the plates to three sides typically.
