A deck support angle consisting of an L3x3x1/4 structural steel angle is welded to a steel beam with a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld at one and a half inch spacing, maintaining a one inch maximum gap. For beam flanges greater than three-quarters of an inch thick, the angle is welded directly to the flange face. For beam flanges less than three-quarters of an inch thick, the angle is coped to clear the fillet radius of the beam.
