The base plate is welded with 5/16-inch welds typically at the web and 3/4-inch welds typically at the flange. The concrete slab-on-metal deck is omitted for clarity, maintaining specified clearances including a 1-inch minimum typical gap and 1-1/2-inch typical spacing. The top of steel elevation varies per plan.
