Vertical and horizontal reinforcing requirements around an unscheduled opening or recess in a masonry wall where the opening width is three feet or less. Vertical reinforcing bars are placed adjacent to the opening and must extend forty-eight bar diameters minimum beyond the edge of the opening, with ninety-degree hooks provided if bars cannot be fully developed. Horizontal reinforcing bars match the scheduled horizontal wall reinforcing and include bottom bars of lintel reinforcing sized per the masonry lintel schedule. No miscellaneous or unscheduled openings shall be located within twenty-four inches of a beam or joist bearing plate.
