A wide-flange beam connects to a wide-flange column flange using a shear plate with two vertical rows of bolts sized per schedule. A one-half-inch thick cap plate is welded to the top of the connection with a one-half-inch fillet weld on four sides unless noted otherwise. Edge distances and bolt spacings include a minimum of two bolt diameters, three inches typical, and one-and-one-half inches typical. Larger plates and two rows of bolts are provided where conditions require.
