This plan detail shows a structural steel column welded to a Grade 50 base plate measuring 2-1/2 inches thick. The assembly is secured by twelve 2-1/4 inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor bolts equipped with 3/4 inch by 4 inch by 4 inch washers and double nuts. A column gusset plate specified by the buckling-restrained brace manufacturer connects to the column and base plate, with a minimum thread projection of 1/2 inch required above the top of each nut. The entire base plate assembly bears within a footing pocket as shown.
