An HSS beam connects to an HSS column using a welded shear tab plate and three bolts. The connection detail includes a one-half-inch cap plate welded to the structural tubing with three-eighths-inch welds. A half-inch thick tab plate is positioned per structural drawings and welded to the concrete and hollow structural section. A two-inch clearance and three-quarter-inch maximum gap are maintained at the beam end.
