An HSS10x6 hollow structural section canopy beam connects to a main support column using a three-eighths-inch thick end plate welded all around with a five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. A three-eighths by four-and-a-half-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate connects via two seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts with standard holes. A companion three-eighths by three-and-a-half-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate provides additional connection capacity. Fillet welds sized at five-sixteenths-inch secure the plates according to Table 10-14C in the AISC Steel Construction Manual 15th Edition for skewed plate conditions.
